Wet Sunday morning SCMC members met at McDonalds in Headington (minus Ali and Scott who had a family convoy), at 10am to convoy to the Oxford Mini Plant in Cowley.
![]() | On arrival it was obvious that there were more BMW Mini’s than the Classic Mini’s attending the event. Once parked, we all headed inside to register the cars, hand in our sponsorship money and collect our run window sticker, route suggestions and Italian Job cap! It turns out that the BMW guys aren’t all “that” bad as they had laid on free bacon/sausage baps and plenty of tea and coffee for all J. They also had a little exhibition of some of the finest/unusual Classic and BMW minis. |
11am everyone was fed and watered, cars fueled up the chequered flag waved and we were off. Was interesting to see all the different routes people had chosen from the route planner and with that several little convoys were formed. Everyone appeared to have a smooth journey to Dorney, even if it was a little wet the whole way. ![]() | ![]() We arrived at the lake around 1PM, the strip of water really is amazing in the flesh, pictures don’t really do it justice. We were directed to make our way to the clubhouse at the end of the lake where we could purchase hot/cold drinks oh and not forgetting the bar which Lee and Shifty took pleasure in having the first pints of the day!! Not only was there drinks available there was also a teddy stand with all the proceeds going towards charity. On that note would like to take the chance to name the newest club members: Moo and Jenny (aye Debs!!!!) |
At 2:45 we all made our ways back to our cars ready to head home. We were led out by the Italian Jobs supporting Land Rover around the windy perimeter road, out the gate to make our own ways home. Overall it was a good day out made better by the fact that it was all for a good cause.
