On Saturday morning Lee, Debs, Chip, Beccah
and myself all met in the cloudy hills of High Wycombe, while sir Shifty was
stuck at work, waiting to be let out to join us in the evening.
We had a chat, and sorted out some spares for some potential cooling issues
after 2 radiators had broken a few days before. At 10:30 we set off towards
Cornbury Park.
3 Minutes later, I stopped for fuel.

We then set off again after meeting back up on the road, all fully prepared for the weekend, or so we thought. After about another mile Chip announced over the CB that he didn’t know where his ticket was. Lee screeched to a halt at the next turning, with all of us behind where we checked and found that they were infact in Beccahs car.
This time we managed to set off with no issues, and had a great drive down, with one brown trouser moment for Beccah and William when a truck swerved right out in front of her on the duel carriage way, missing her car William by inches. Thankfully no harm was done; We stopped shortly after for a toilet break and so lee could read the map again. We left the services, and the dual carriage ways behind us and joined some nice winding country lanes. Unfortunately stuck behind another truck. After going to the wrong gate, TWICE, we found the right one and were pointed towards a field full of expensive motor homes and tents where we setup camp, and the display of cars, which took some thinking about after being told by the blue ford focus club that we had parked halfway across their stand of 20 identical cars.

After setting up camp we promptly opened the beers, sat down and waited for Shifty.
Once Shifty arrived we lit the bbq and had some more drinks and dinner. This was around the time of the first incident of Shifty spilling a bottle of cider on himself.
After a very nice meal (Thanks Deb), Shifty dried himself off, and went to see if the bumper cars were open. Unfortunately for me, they were. Needless to say, my neck hurts after everyone decided it would be a brilliant idea to just hit me. Although credit to Chip who found it very amusing to just drive backwards in a circle. We came back from the bumper cars, with Shifty significantly poorer after paying for me and others and turned the bbq into a roaring fire to keep us warm on the cold windy night. The fire kept us nice and warm whilst we talked about lots of different stuff, until we decided it was time for beddy byes.

I tried to go to sleep, but Beccah and Chip kept me up arguing about how big their tent was. Once they shut up I froze to sleep. Thankfully the wind had died down by this point so it felt a little warmer than before.
Woke up in the morning to bright sunshine and a gap where Shiftys tent used to be. We had a breakfast of sorts, by this I mean relentless and cookies, and walked down to the main part of the show for a wonder round. Throughout the day we saw lots of different cars literally flying round the historic grounds of Cornbury park, most notable the new Prodrive WRC car driven by Dani Sordo and a MK2 escort driven by some genius, who was only 4 seconds slower than the Prodrive throughout the day.

Me and Beccah met Dani Sordo after one of his runs and had some pictures taken, I also had my phone signed somehow even though I didn’t have a pen.
We then walked back up past our cars to where they had placed the artificial jump on the tarmac stage. I don’t see how it’s artificial; it was DEFINATLY a real jump, as the car were flying over it fast, with some landing VERY hard indeed, although nothing seemed to break. Some of the cars were really going for it even though they had very little power, especially the 2 stroke Saab which we thought was hilarious.
Soon it was time to leave the show at around 4.30pm, for a wonderful drive back down the country lanes.
Once we hit the duel carriage way we had to stop because Shifty had spilt another drink in his lap, after this we all went our separate ways and got home with no troubles.
All in all it was a brilliant weekend, very different to L2B, and I think all would agree it was better.
Really looking forward to next year with more of the same.
