Today was a good little mini-run despite the distinct lack of minis as our beleaguered fleet awaits repairs. I picked up Shifty and Shannon in the morning and we met Dan, Roo and Matt at RAF Benson. Charlotte was absent due to being in the states (you missed out fool) and we narrowly missed Barspeed due to unforeseen complications (our apologies sir). We headed to the Crown at Nuffield pub which was surprisingly full. Dan was presented with a lovely balloon and some cards and a hat to wear and we all had a nice quiet pint.

After an hour we were asked to leave; due to a ‘double-booking’ which we suspect was in-fact due to all the Skeletor quotes and random shouts. Either way we took to the back roads via the base and went to a nice pub in Great Milton. We waited a considerable amount of time for some food but the weather was warm enough to sit outside and we had some nice chocolate cake after.

We then went back towards the base and on to Henley-on-Thames where we parked up and went for a wonder. We found a shop that sold funny gifts of questionable quality; got a quick if not slightly rough coffee from a stand on the harbour and then ended up in the park whilst Ray Mears rounded up his ten or so children and dragged them home.

After an hour or so those non-parents in the group felt like we’d had enough strange looks and we headed off after a rather nice looking clubby we spied driving along towards the wind in the willows museum. By the time we got to the car park the owners were gone but we had a good look and it was quite a tidy example that everyone liked. After a brief wander back down the river-side; we saw a really nice Ford GT trundle by and then went back to the cars. In some ways the lack of minis led to some good in car banter despite us trying to keep it child friendly for Shannon. All in all it was a fun day despite lack of any real structure (my bad); and a big happy birthday to Dan.
